Just to be clear, I don't have a dog in this fight so I don't care whether they do (or don't) add additional shows.

Clearly one of the reasons why there was so much demand for these shows is because they were announced (marketed) as "the last Grateful Dead shows ever", thus why they are able to charge so much for tickets & why so many people are willing to make the effort / pay the expense to see these three shows.

If instead of just announcing the Chicago shows, they had also scheduled two shows somewhere on the east coast & two on the west coast, I imagine that a considerable percentage of people (who will be in Chicago) would have instead opted to spend less money & instead chosen to see shows closer to home.

Regardless, I'm guessing they won't announced additional shows. Not saying that you won't see some manifestation of the band popping up here & there over the years, just saying that they won't call themselves "The Grateful Dead". Instead it'll just be "Phil & special guests so & so" or whatever.
